A Texas Bluebonnet Wedding
Bluebonnets blanket the hill country all over Texas for about eight glorious weeks every spring. While all of the wildflower varieties are beautiful, there's something special about Texas bluebonnets. It's a special bride, indeed, who gets to marry the love of her life surrounded by bluebonnets and wide-open views of the Texas hill country.

Where to Find Bluebonnets
Bluebonnets blanket the hill country all over Texas for about eight glorious weeks every spring. But finding them isn't always as easy as it sounds. Bluebonnets like to pop up in different locations each year. Some fields are reliably covered in bluebonnets each year, but often, bluebonnets surprise us by changing locations. Here at Talula Mesa Glamping Resort, we reliably have thousands of bluebonnets each year, although the exact location varies. Luckily, we have lots of romantic spots for couples to say, "I do," so you're sure to have a Texas bluebonnet wedding of your dreams. Talula Mesa is located on the north shore of Lake Travis, about halfway between Lago Vista, TX and Marble Falls, TX. We're about one hour from downtown Austin, or thirty minutes from north Austin or Cedar Park.

When to Have a Texas Bluebonnet Wedding
It can be a little tricky to pin down the exact bluebonnet window, as it varies year-to-year according to the weather. Tracking the bluebonnets at Talula Mesa Glamping Resort for eight seasons, I can say that early April is very reliable for bluebonnets. Some years they start blooming in early March and some years they wait until April. Of course, weddings need to be booked in advance to secure the dates. If you want to be 100% sure of getting married in a peak-blooming field of Texas bluebonnets, you'll need to either be flexible and wait to pin down the date until spring. You'll have about 3-4 weeks notice, from when the first bluebonnet pops up until the fields are popping with thousands and thousands of the blue flowers. If planning in advance is important, I would aim for early April. That way, if they bloom early, in March, you'll still have bluebonnets left. And if they wait until April, which happens some years, you'll also have bluebonnets.

What About Snakes?
You can't mention bluebonnets without everyone warning about snakes hiding in the grass. Don't worry, our staff will walk the bluebonnet fields ahead of time, making sure the fields are clear. Snake sightings are exceedingly rare, and most snakes out here are non-venomous. But of course, it's better to be safe than sorry, so we'll make lots of noise to encourage all of our field "friends" to go find peace elsewhere.
We hope you found this information helpful. We want to use our blog to increase awareness and support for locally-owned glamping sites, lodging, businesses, and wedding venues. Locally-owned businesses tend to provide a higher level of expertise, service, and dedication. Importantly, they also keep money IN our communities, whereas corporate-owned or investor-owned businesses suck money OUT of our communities. As you plan your wedding we hope you will consider a locally-owned wedding venue and lodging near Austin or in the Texas hill country like ours. You can find locally-owned wedding venues on this wedding venue map. Below is a shout out to fellow locally-owned wedding venues around the country. If you know of locally-owned businesses near Austin, Marble Falls, or anywhere in the Texas hill country, please tell us about them in the comments so we can support them, too!
